Detention for blue and yellow ribbons in the hair

In March 2023, a high school history teacher from Minsk came to work with blue and yellow ribbons in her hair. The administrative offense report later stated that while in the school building, she "actively participated in a mass event in the form of picketing, attracting public attention by publicly displaying blue and yellow ribbons symbolizing the national flag of Ukraine."The first to react were two other teachers, who, upon seeing her in the staff room, began demanding explanations about the meaning of the ribbons. Later, the deputy principal for academic affairs got involved, claiming that such a hairstyle did not conform to the school's dress code. Soon, the school principal demanded a written explanation and threatened not to renew her contract. Eventually, it was the principal who called the police. The court found the teacher guilty of violating the procedure for organizing a mass event and fined her approximately 700 euros.
